Troop 1
Leadership
Youth Leadership: We are a Scout-run Troop, which
means that the guys run the meetings and do most of the
planning, not the adults. We let them come along on the
outings because, after all, someone has to drive, right? We
don't always get it right, so some of our meetings and
outings come off with the calm precision of a prison riot,
but at least we're learning, and so far, no one has gotten
hurt.
The Parent Committee: We also let some of
the adults hang out with us and do some of the
behind-the-scenes stuff, like setting Troop policy and
handling the finances. That's the Parent Committee.
The Uniformed Leaders: The down and dirty
adult leadership comes from the Scoutmaster and Assistant
Scoutmasters who oversee the running of the Troop and the
outings and try to make sure that we know what we're doing.
Here is a rundown on these Dudes of Steel, each of them
faster than a flaming arrow, braver than a grizzley bear,
and able to leap small outhouses in a single bound. Most of
them are also just a little crazy, or they wouldn't be doing
this.
Mike Burket (Scoutmaster)
Troop 1's fearless leader and newest Obi-wan
Kenobi, Mike plays some mean jazz!
He can entertain you and talk to you at the same
time. (Wow, a guy who can
multi-task, we need him in this troop.)
James Constant (Asst. Scoutmaster)
Is there a doctor in the house? James is already
starting Boy Scouts early, assisting Troop 1,
getting it ready for his two-year old.
"The Enforcer" Bob
DelSecco (Asst. Scoutmaster)
It's always nice to have a real-life National
Park Service Ranger on a campout. There's nothing
like a Maglite and a pair of handcuffs to keep a
Boy Scout in line.
Eric "Been There, Done That" Erickson (Asst.
Scoutmaster)
Mr. Erickson has been on more Troop 1 outings
than anyone on the planet. His front door has a
zipper instead of a deadbolt and he keeps a lantern
hanging outside his bathroom door. He even carries
his own toilet paper wherever he goes.
Sam Guyton (Asst. Scoutmaster)
What's to say about Sam? An Eagle scout and
former Cub Scoutmaster.
Allan Laucke (Asst. Scoutmaster)
One of the Asst. Scoutmasters extraordinaire, a
water dude with webbed feet,
leading the effort in getting Larkspur Seabase in
ship shape for boating and
other seaworthy adventures. Nothing fools Asst. Scoutmaster Lauke.
Mylo Lowenstein (Asst. Scoutmaster)
Mylo is the only Asst. Scoutmaster who is a
"woman." So she has to keep the "boys" in line, or
else!
Chip Patton
An enthusiastic Asst. Scoutmaster and mentor to
scouts. Really a softie at heart
and downright scary in a pair of shorts.
Michael "Runs with Scissors" Reading (Asst.
Scoutmaster)
The former Scoutmaster of Troop 1 (2003-2006).
His suave, patient demeanor hides a sick and
twisted sense of humor, a real asset on the trail.
And we mean that in the nicest possible way.
Kurt Schindler (Asst. Scoutmaster)
One of our more highly evolved Assistant
Scoutmasters. Eagle Scout and all-round great
addition to the leadership team.
Scott Smith (Asst. Scoutmaster)
Eagle Scout and former Scoutmaster of Troop 1.
Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intellegent life
down here!
Ted "The Hikemeister" Treat (Asst.
Scoutmaster)
Puts more miles on a pair of hiking boots in a
year than most people do in a lifetime. There isn't
a trail in the Bay Area or the Northern Sierra that
the Hikemeister doesn't know. In 15 years of
Scouting, he hasn't lost a Scout on the trail yet.
That we know of.
Don't do this hiking
That's one way you can keep the sun out of your
face. He is obviously not a scout. If you do this hiking, you may find yourself on your face sooner or later, not that you can see if your wearing it like that. |
Anton Traub (Asst. Scoutmaster)
George Evelyn (Asst. Scoutmaster)
If you are a current assistant scoutmaster of Troop 1 and you are not listed on this page, please feel free to email the Webmaster your name and some information about you that you would like put up. If you want a picture of yourself put up, email that to me and I will put it up.
